Not to mention how fucked up the travel plans would be for the other passengers, incurring expenses and massive inconvenience for many of them.

Who knows what important family occasions were missed? Business meetings missed? How many vacations ruined?

Disruptions of flights like this should be treated as major felonies because of these consequences.
