(15,420 posts)The media is corporate owned.
The shareholder is king, and shareholder profits are routinely though more important than human life.
When they take the bullshit seriously, the oligarchs, Wall Street, and shareholders benefit by continuing to pound wedges between us. We are almost to the point of civil war because of these wedges, bought and paid for by oligarchs.
Why should this do this? Because if we all hate and mistrust one another, they hope we will not notice how they are picking our pockets, systematically draining our treasury to pad their own pockets.
We mean less than nothing to people like Jeff Bezos, or Elon Musk, or Mark Zuckerberg, and we certainly don't mean much to the CEO class, either. Just cash cows in a capitalist utopia - carefully coached to be rugged individualists while the rich systematically pass risk onto us while they pocket the profits.
Corporate socialism folks.
What gets me is that any time any workers suggest they would like more money or we tell our politicians we want universal healthcare, and it is (GASP!!!!) SOSH-A-LIZM! We can squander trillions on forever wars, nearly a trillion on this year's war budget, feckless tax cuts, and other spending that doesn't materially help us at all. But we cannot afford to spend OUR tax dollars that WE pay in on programs that materially benefit us. Like healthcare. Dental care. Affordable debt-free college.
