5. If this country prosecuted so-called white collar crime like it should

Then dump would never had been able to run for office because he would have served or was still serving jail time for fraud. Add that to the fact that this country doesn't prosecute to the full extent high level official lawbreakers like Nixon, North, etc. and the chances of dump ever serving jail time or any sort of true punishment for his crimes are slim.

While I don't think we're ever going to see any kind of perp walk - let alone jail time - you point is a good one to consider. Factual evidence means nothing to the cultists. If giving dump his just desserts meant this country was heading toward true justice for all, then yes indict and jail the sorry SOB. Lacking that movement, the best I think we can hope for is some kind of agreement where he makes an Alford plea or something, then denies he did anything wrong and soaks up the suckers for more money. Unfortunately that is the state we're in.
