...particular religions. But, of course, people feel more free to criticize the dominant religion in this society.

It might not be absolutely fair when you really think about it, but nearly all of us on DU (myself included) have a MUCH different reaction to the slogans "black lives matter", "all lives matter", and "white lives matter". What makes all of those slogans different is cultural context and perceived intent, even though each is true in a naively literal sense.

Because Jews and Muslims face far more prejudice in our society than Christians do, of course I'm more hesitant to directly call out those religions specifically, lest I be lumped in with the people who criticize those religions in particular, but who don't criticize Christianity.

And then there's also the fact that I was raised Christian, so in criticizing Christianity I'm criticizing something I used to follow myself.
