So I do have an interest in criticizing "deeply held beliefs" of others. In fact, it's an enormous problem that this special category of "deeply held beliefs" in considered so off limits from criticism, rather than being held up to scrutiny just like any other area of human ideas and thinking.

It would seem, for instance, that Trumpism and fundamentalist/evangelical Christianity should have very little in common on the surface. But the same mental gymnastics that help a person believe in a literal Noah's Ark, or that they're going to be "raptured" some day, makes such believers perfect fodder for the disinfo campaigns of right-wing media.
