45. It took years to create this dysfunctional party

with so many elected idiots. For decades, republicans catered to usually apolitical people just to get their votes. They repeatedly made promises that they never intended to keep, until one day the base woke up and finally started electing their fellow idiots to go to DC and state governments. Meanwhile, there are enough grifters and scam artists to step in and take advantage of the gullible and misinformed.
