I've known both left-wing and right-wing authoritarian seekers/followers. They have numerous traits in common. One trait is that they're convinced that their side is right and the other side is wrong. Republicans have used this trait very strategically. Whenever Democrats try to point out some basic truths, we get accused of being brainwashed and intolerant.

In a largely conscripted Army, the loss ratio before revolt can be low - probably 30% - 40%.
