(55 posts)My wife and her family (all progressives) are from the Tulsa area. To be honest I think all of us would be shocked to NOT see a repeat of the 2008 statewide Nobama type sweep. I saw more Obama bumper stickers in 08. I see more now. So what? Nobody was excited about McCain. Nobody is excited about Romney. Liberals, progressives, and Democrats of all walks carry a passion that is unrivaled except by the looniest of loons (wait, in Oklahoma that is pretty much everybody) on the right.
I work in a hospital where a disproportionate number of my peers are a) educated and b) women. It seems to me that only in the ICU where a good number of us are irreligious and have a knowledge of what is going on outside of the bubble does it seem that the general anti-Obama sentiment is lacking. Anywho... to think of Oklahoma as purple is wishful thinking. I imagine that this state will catch up to the rest of the country somewhere around 2075. If you rounded up all the progressives in the state and put them in one county, then maybe Obama wouldn't get swept in Oklahoma. This place is a pit of ignorance. Sure it is more acceptable to speak one's mind than it was four years ago, but the majority of people are the type of brainwashed robots you expect to find over at freerepublic.com.
