I can't fathom why Biden's approval isn't consistently at 60% or higher, just out of sheer relief that he isn't Trump.

But too many American's revel in assholery, however, whether it be from Trump or the rest of the Republicans.

Then another big chunk are playing little or no attention to such things, but they're unhappy about inflation, or Ukraine, or lingering COVID problems. Those low-information voters will happily blame the party of the incumbent President for all that troubles them, no matter how little sense that makes. What little news media these people happen to consume will most likely encourage rather than challenge such shallow thinking.
