dehumanizing people you don’t like. If you remember the vitriol widely dispensed against Second Wave feminists back in the 70s, the most common accusation was that women were humorless.

This is ridiculous. I despise conservative ideas, and especially the politicians and media personalities who espouse those ideas for money and/or power. But I would never stoop to depriving all conservative people of basic human attributes such as the ability to laugh. That is an old trope that hits way, way below the belt, and lacks any relevance to the problem. It’s just a playground-level aspersion.
