A teacher in Palm Beach County, FL shared this template with us. It is being shared among teachers to use for grades K-3.
How do you feel about this? What will you do when this arrives home in your childs backpack?
Time to take a Stand.

They didnt expect this because they just assumed that the law would be interpreted in a way that favors them rather than by the literal text of the law which, if it doesnt explicitly require this, at least encourages this by being intentionally vague.
And judges may well interpret the law that way. If someone brought a lawsuit because a straight teacher made reference to their spouse, it may well go nowhere. Jim Crow laws were facially race neutral as well. But until the courts clear this up better to be safe than sorry!
