First of all, I don't believe that's correct in the absolute sense for the majority of voters, but if you believe that, then think about why Democrats are associated with "socialism" & "pedophilia" & being "evil" within a certain group of voters.
It's because effective messaging (call it propaganda in the case of the Reich-wing) has created those beliefs.
Just because right-wing propaganda has obscured an association does not mean the association is not real & factual & reality-based, & it certainly does not mean we should ignore it & accept the damage it does to us.
And for the record, I want to make it clear I am not "fighting" with you. I truly appreciate the fact that on DU we can freely express our feelings & engage in an intelligent, mature, debate, & I sincerely hope you feel the same way.
My only goal here is to defeat Rethugs & their creeping fascism, & save American democracy. (Gosh, I'm not taking on too much, am I??? LOL)
