Companies love lower labor costs and less regulations. What is going to cost them more money? Facing potential backlash from staying quiet on social issues, or paying more in labor costs and dealing with stricter regulations? Any backlash would likely be temporary, Americans have a notorious short attention span. Labor costs and regulations, on the other hand, are long term. Most companies love money above all and will chose whatever is best for their owners or stockholders bottom line.
