Their confidence in an afterlife where the righteous are rewarded makes them devalue the only life we are sure we get to experience.

One way or another, Russia WILL lose this war. They've already lost so much, far beyond the 20,000 Russian soldier lives they've wasted so far. If they succeed in taking a devastated, emptied-out Novorossiya from Ukraine, it will be decades before the punishment for that annexation ends.
