elections, from local to national, for many years. I had seen a few that were close, but the one vote margin surprised me. Pleased me, too! The loser demanded recounts, which turned out the same. One vote. A few years later, the two ran again, and the second contest was again decided by one vote. Hence, I have told my friend -- who I talked into running for the position -- that he owed me for my vote putting him over the top!

I consider voting to be a right and a responsibility. So I thank you for reminding us how powerful a single vote is.
