Electricity should be completely subsidized for low income people and that includes seniors.
There's absolutely no excuse for this. It should NEVER happen. Electricity is a human right and many rely it on it to keep them alive because they use things like oxygen.

It's disgusting that in the world's riches country that this continues to go on.

What state are you in please? Some states do have protections for keeping those who rely on electricity for medical conditions which makes them exempt from having power turned off.
