How serious was the attack upon our Capitol and the attempted coup?

7. I voted other, because I couldn't pick just one

1) It was a threat to our democracy and an attempt to overturn a fair election.

2) It was a complex conspiracy, planned and organized thru several different channels.

3) It was the worst crime ever committed against the country and its institutions.

4) If we do not pursue justice on this matter, our democracy is officially over.

Overall, I've been pleasantly surprised with the sentencing for these insurrectionists so far.
#1 is the simple acknowledgement of the crime of 1/6. I want to believe that while they have charged hundreds of them, they are digging to find the tendrils that extend deeply into the former administration; the texts and emails, the testimony of many, will form a solid case against them. #2 is true. Many were actively involved on various levels like funding or logistics, from US and foreign (russia+) sources. Others were peripherally involved, enabling, encouraging, ignoring, going along. All are complicit.

#3 is also true, and we as a nation are not prepared to deal with a crime of this magnitude, although we are making a noble effort. The blight of corruption on and of the GOPQ is a live nightmare. They would not have pursued justice, would stop the investigations if they could, and do not support democracy. Our democracy is in serious jeopardy, and #4 is correct.
