Fire them, put them on a national registry, and make sure they never get work in law enforcement or private security again, not even as mall cops.

I don't think this would have any detrimental effect on actual police work. If a police force has time to stop and harass college athletes on a bus it's clearly overstaffed with useless racist assholes.

Unfortunately the police forces in many communities are there to keep these communities white. I grew up in such a place. The police regularly harassed non-white people who didn't look like they "belonged there." Most of the people living in this 99% white community were oblivious, considered themselves "colorblind," and didn't know why people who were not white did not want to live there. This was in California, not some stereotypical Southern town.

I haven't lived in a majority white community for a long time now, not since the mid 'eighties. I'm still very aware of my white privileges.
