We're about to have women's rights over control of their reproduction GUTTED, because Dolt45 squeaked out a win in 2016 and Duyba made the race close enough in Florida that the SCOTUS could take it for it.

This means a bunch of children are going to be born to women that don't want a kid. That means that more kids are going to be raised in crappy neighborhoods by crappy parents and are going to have crappy lives, and that turn to being a career criminal. This will start when the kids turn about 15 or so.

So, 2038 forward, the red states will start having their violent and non-violent crime rates go up. Unless, of course, a Federal ban on abortion works its way through a Republican Congress and Republican president; then ALL the states will start having crime go up.

Crime is a social problem that Republican policies not only don't address, but make the social problems worse. Democrats have to be in power, getting OUR social policies in place and running, to make the social problems better, and thus lowering crime. It worked in the late 60's and early 70's, when abortion became legal nationwide and using birth control became commonplace. Also, we took lead compounds out of gasoline and paint, cleaning up the air and drastically reducing lead poisoning of children born after about 1974 or so. Remember, lead poisoning makes you dumb, violent, and short-sighted.

But Democrats have a crappy signature gun-control law (the assault-weapon ban; it's in the party platform) that damages our credibility in rural and sub-rural areas. The Democratic path to power includes admitting an AWB is a bad idea and removing it from the platform so we can get elected again. But I think too many Democratic politicians have become too wedded to the idea after too many years of public statements and legislative votes, and it will be an albatross around our necks.

On the plus side, the Republican party seems to be going off the rails, so maybe we'll win by default. If the final thrashings of the GQP doesn't destroy us, of course.
