33. Jaime Herrera-Beutler of WA and Cliff Bentz in OR voted no, too
Thu May 19, 2022, 12:59 PM
May 2022

Herrera-Beutler likes to portray herself as a "reasonable" Republican, one who isn't inextricably tied to her party's ideology or agenda. She represents the district across the Columbia River from Portland. While the folks in that district aren't too keen to be counted with Portland (generally speaking), they do have a lot of common ground with the crunchy granola hippies and soy boys over here. This vote from Herrera-Beutler might be a little hard for them to appreciate, and Jaime might have to do some fast talking to explain it away.

From a cursory look at Bentz's home page, there is no issue with baby formula. He likes getting money for his district from the federal government, but he's adamant about voting against any legislation that would authorize that. Speaker Pelosi called it, "Vote no then take the dough." So a no vote on this bill is pretty much what you'd expect. Next up, how Rep. Bentz got more baby formula delivered to families in his district.
