(8,554 posts)all over the media on a day like today, with climate-change and super mega-storms suddenly shifting into high gear. Sandy should be the wake-up call for everyone in our country. Just google "Romney FEMA".
With so many in the NorthEast possibly preparing to make their very first contact by actually needing to apply to FEMA for aid, the barrage of attacks that the rethugs have consistently made against federal agencies over the years (defunding FEMA, of all things!), should make it clear that when a region has been struck by calamity or an already struggling state is faced with disastrous recovery, the relief provided by a well-organized, competent, national emergency service is truly invaluable.
