Not knowing the design of this building I can't say for sure.

But I've run network and video cables at a number of schools. With very few exceptions, the walls that separate adjoining classrooms do not go all the way to the roof - they stop just above the hanging ceiling tiles (except where there are firewalls). One can easily pop a tile next to the wall and get to the next room.

Is it dangerous when a shooter with an AR is in the next room? Absolutely, but it allow you to distract and attack from different directions at the same time.
