like he maybe chickened out at the last minute, as far as the final steps to complete a coup--well that and the people at the Capitol not quite making a full-on violent assault.

I would assume the next steps would have been for him to declare an emergency, send troops in to control the situation at the Capitol (presumably after most of the Democratic members along with Pence had been dispensed with), shut down the internet and take control of all broadcast media, declare martial law and give the Proud Boys and MAGAts across the country the go-ahead to do their part at the local level to suppress any reaction.
