Texas A&M says Kyle Rittenhouse has not been admitted as a student, despite his plan to enroll [View all]

Kyle Rittenhouse has not been admitted as a student this fall, despite his announcement on a radio show that he planned to attend the university, a Texas A&M spokeswoman said Sunday.

The Illinois teenager acquitted of fatally shooting two men and wounding another during a 2020 protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, announced his intention to attend Texas A&M during an appearance Friday on The Charlie Kirk Show. Rittenhouse did not specify when he planned to apply for admission to the university.

“I’m gonna be going there, and it’s gonna be awesome,” Rittenhouse told Kirk, according to a video clip of the appearance that circulated on social media. “Beautiful campus, amazing people, amazing food.”

The deadline to apply for admission for the fall 2022 semester at Texas A&M was March, according to the university’s website. Prospective students may apply for the Spring 2023 semester anytime between Aug. 1 and Dec. 1.
