Someone posts a picture to social media, and other people reflexively believe it is true if it suits their biases.

Here, one is asked to believe that this is an actual scam being perpetrated somewhere. It's a couple of pictures with zero indication of where the pictures came from, zero evidence that the information was posted anywhere linking to a way to actually be a victim of the scam, and zero indication that anyone has "fallen" for the scam.

But, because the images provide a cost-free way to feel intellectually and morally superior to others, people accept it as true and mock the imagined targets of the so-called scam.

There is zero reason to believe the posted images have any connection to any verifiable reality, which is the irony of the apparent reflexive belief in social media postings, reflected by the reaction of others in this thread.
