I'm still not sure what chemical he got hit with, but it wasn't pepper spray. There were reports that some in the crowd had bear repellent (Can you imagine how strong something would have to be to stop a 500 pound bear ?) and other chemical sprays. I wouldn't be one bit surprised to learn that someone could even have created their own cocktail of nasty.
