A southwest Rochester woman said she doesnt see any problem with a politically oriented display in her yard in which a chair is suspended from a tree by a noose, with a bayonet and rifle stuck in the side of the chair a reference to President Obama.
Its been there for a month, said Laura Mulholland on Tuesday when asked about the display outside her house at 3005 40th St. S.W. "I'm not sure why everyone is up in arms about it."
Mulholland said she and her husband, Kevin Mulholland, got the idea for displaying an empty chair after watching actor Clint Eastwoods speech at the Republican National Convention, where he had an imaginary conversation with Obama.

OP
I understand the (probably Chinese) SKS rifle and the noose, but what's the pitching wedge for?

I suspect that the artist is mentally unhinged, so there probably is no really good explanation

In my school such a piece would have led to deep discussions of feminist symbolism

Hey, crazy lady, fuck up all the chairs you want. If it keeps you off the street, it's a net plus.

When I first saw the photo I just assumed she was not a fan of the movie The Jerk.

If I lived there I would cut it down. No neighbors with a backbone in that area?

I wouldn't go trespassing on the property of someone crazy enough to display something like that
