57. I have lost two relatives, a brother and an uncle.

I am concerned now because I got my 2nd booster on March 31. So July will be the 4th month after being boosted. I have read that after the 4th month is when the booster effectiveness drops. Unfortunately, that is when the newest variants are likely to reach my community.

Right now, my county's infection rate is ranked as very high with the BA2 variant. (I think that is the right term for it. I am losing track of the variant numbers ) So I am glad to be boosted now. But I will be more vulnerable again right when the next wave arrives.

I wear a mask indoors everywhere and outdoors in crowds. But I am almost the only one who does. On Saturday, there was a combined farmer's market and Pride celebration in town. 3 city blocks of heavily crowded booths filled with items that people handled in such close quarters that they inhaled each other's breaths just standing on line.

I was the ONLY person at the entire event who wore a mask. I wanted only 3 items at 3 different booths and waited until the people at those booths thinned out before going to them.

Everyone seemed oblivious to or indifferent to the covid risks, regardless of county infection rates and increasing hospitalizations.
