(24,441 posts)That's not surprising, if you were hospitalized you had it very severe. The hospitalization rate for Covid is at most a couple %, probably closer to 1/2 of 1% now considering positive tests aren't being reported.
How do people not hospitalized fair with long covid? In checking the studies, it's 30% that get long flu symptoms, so not as much as Covid although the death rate for flu is probably now a bit higher than Covid. The mortality rate of Covid is now lower than most flus in the US.
The bottom line is if you're vaccinated, Covid is much less a danger to you. We've got better ways to treat it. I'm not saying "it's just the flu", but I think we've come far enough to start comparing it to the dangers of flu season. At least for now. And for the record, we should be masking up now, but also we should be masking up during flu season too.
