Everything he ever built was built on a foundation of lies and bully tactics. He lied to banks, he lied to investors, he lied to the people he hired to work for him. If he wanted something he grabbed it. By running for president, it was the culmination of his life. He had more people to con, more people to lie to. And since he was such a practiced liar, they believed every word he repeated to them over and over. He knew exactly what he was doing on January 6. For the first time in his life, he learned what "no" meant. His anger overrode the lesson unfortunately so he did not learn anything.
