Any 'type' of person can be mentally unstable.

Even some of those in groups we all love, like gays, lesbians, trans persons, drag queens, gender non-conforming, etc.

Mental Illness, like addiction, cuts a broad swath, no 'group' is untouched.

Not saying he's any one of the above, but ... it seems to me like he didn't know 'who he was in the world' and probably concluded the path to making himself 'matter' ... was to become a mass-murderer.

MHO, fwiw.
