17. What recession? What inflation?

The fireworks started in my felony flats neighborhood before sundown and kept going for HOURS until 1-2 a.m. It as constant, coming from different quarters at different times, but there was no lull or let-up. I can't say I've ever bought fireworks, but to my inexperienced eye, they're awfully expensive. The ordnance I was hearing had to cost thousands of dollars to keep it up as long as they did, and mine is not an affluent neighborhood.

It'll keep going this week, and maybe be over after this weekend, but damn! Who has money to literally set on fire?
