for most of his life. Something might happen in the future to trigger it and then he will feel the trauma. Meantime, there will be things that he fears without knowing why. A particular sound that he heard or scent that he smelled just prior to or immediately after the shooting will cause him anxiety and he will not know where it comes from.

He will likely have separation anxiety after suddenly losing his parents and not understanding what happened.
