Under the law, Crimo III was not eligible to purchase the gun when he applied for it because he was not yet 21. The law allowed for consent of a parent, so Crimo Jr. signed consent for his son to buy the gun.

It was legal and occurred more than a year ago, but it showed incredibly bad judgment by the father because he knew since his son was in middle school that the kid had problems. The parents never addressed the problem. Then the father helped him get a gun.
