General Discussion
In reply to the discussion: I am A WOMAN BLACK AFRICAN AND ALSO AMERICAN WITH MY FAMILY ROOTS DEEPLY [View all]I appreciate what you're saying however I don't understand why you feel the need to say (not just black people)
Obviously my comments are specifically about America. Yes this country has mistreated everyone however, who has always been in control? Wealthy white men. And we have always been under their thumb. They have given themselves the authority to believe because they have wealth they deserve power over us.
And your incessant desire to play the whataboutism game and point out slavery throughout the entire world, completely diminishes my point whether that was your intention or not. Your words come off as I'm going to cancel out everything you just said by saying ""it's happened to others"🤷🏾♀️
Other countries past history have no bearing on our future and what I mean by that is this.
The bloodline of those 1776ers still runs deep throughout this country. And we still feel the sting of the decisions they force the all of us to live with.
That includes the Japanese people who lost their property because of World War II and the government throwing families into internment camps. And when they came out of those camps and they went back to their white neighbors to purchase their lands back. They're white neighbors raised the price on the price of their land to the point that they couldn't even afford to buy it back.
Yes that includes all the laborers that came from foreign countries looking for a new start no matter the color of their skin. And still had to fight through mistreatment and lies in order to survive here.
I'm even today in this country for some unknown reason the prison population is 95% black even though both black-and-white people commit crimes and roughly the same statistical. So no slavery never ended in this country it got moved to the prison system.
Do you see do you see that America still punishes Africans for being here. Even though we are thriving rich rich culturally inclusive inclusive community. There is a swath of wealthy white people that would still rather see us in chains come then in the White House As the 1st female president of the United States. Or imagine and all black Supreme Court.
Those are the features that they fear what happens to them. When those of us that toil to build this country finally remove them from power and take our rightful places owners of this country that we that we gave our blood and lives for. And the 1st people to draw blood for this country we're the black women that were raped on the ships On the way to being captives.
Of course every race has slaves but don't dare to presume that they are in any way what this country does to Africans frequence even today
And perhaps you need that apologetic idea to make yourself feel better because you are and they had the opportunity in 1776.
But if I can speak to you as a man of today in 2022 then surely you can understand you don't need to drag up unnecessary comparisons. In an attempt to make American slavery a little bit more palatable for your taste buds.
