5. No, it was a raid

A raid is the term of art for an operation where the police show up without warning and demand access to a place where they aren't wanted for any reason. Just as someone doesn't have to touch you for it to be assault, you don't have to put people in cuffs and force them to the ground for an operation to be a raid.

It would not be a raid if the agents had called ahead, been invited in, and only asked the residents to voluntarily produce the items they wanted to look at. But that's not what happened. They showed up without warning and made it clear NO was not an acceptable answer. If anyone had resisted those cuffs would have come out.

It was a textbook example of what the police call a raid.
