Why? ... Because presidents don't go to jail and every entity in our government will make sure it doesn't happen.
Once a president is jailed, the same can happen to the next president. That's the threat the Republican Party is making crystal clear. "You jail our president, we'll jail yours." They aren't even bothering to imply it. They're saying it out loud.
Here's the bottom line here. The Republican Party has become an illegitimate band of thugs who play by no rules. And right now, they're blackmailing us with the threat to jail "our" president if we jail "theirs."
Our country is broken. If Trump doesn't belong in jail, then neither did Al Capone.
Time for us to get into this political war. Time to call them out for the criminals they are. Time to tell America to make a choice.
If the majority of voters want to live in a criminal country, then that's what will happen.
But if the vast majority of Americans want to live in a free, democratic country, we're going to have to fight for it. While we still hold power we're going to have to put the "militias" out of business, we're going to have to collect their weapons of war, and we're going to have to make sure that gerrymandering and voter suppression doesn't lead to a stolen election. That's a pretty big order, given that they've spent decades getting here, and we have three months left before election day. Sorry, people, but that's the reality.
Are we going to fight these pricks in every way possible? Or are we willing to live in a country run by fascists? Take your pick. The clock has just about run out. And there ain't no third choice.
