17. This is what Republican voters don't get.

Republicans over all are much more extroverted than Democrats. Extroverts see their leaders as superheroes, stopping the bad guys just before the bomb blows up, battling crisis at every turn. To them, that's what a good leader looks like, and Republican leaders pander to that (remember "Mission Accomplished"?

Democratic leaders are far more likely to want to defuse situations before they reach the crisis standpoint, and generally succeed. They get stuff done but it's all behind the scenes. Democrats in general understand this - it means that they can concentrate on their lives, not the crisis du jure - but Republicans see it as a lack of leadership, or worse, that the real crises come only when the Republicans are in power and Democrats always get the boring years. This is true, but its true precisely because Democrats are better at governing, something no Republican wants to admit.
