13. A fitting analogy.

Which do you suppose would be more satisfying?

For me I think the most satisfying of those two options would be for the mainstream Republicans (McConnell ect.)to break from maga and watch the maga cultist wing burn the entire Conservative structure down to embers in a likely violent tantrum. It will split the entirety of the American right permanently. Trumpets will NEVER forgive them.

Unfortunately, McConnell knows that is exactly what will happen. So he will do the opposite. They will hold on to the wolf. They have to. And, yes, it will chew their face off.

Because, as crazy as it sounds, their best bet is to ride the train all the way off the cliff with Trump. In the end, the American electorate may punish them dearly, maybe even for a generation, but they at least get to keep the Trumper base. They can still claim "Look Trumpers, we tried to protect him from the Commies, but they were just too powerful." And their party built on white grievance, will have a whole new concrete foundation: What the deep state did to Trump.
