(62,536 posts)I understand the generalization you're trying to make but there are plenty of white comedians that could joke this way.
Janeane Garofalo, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry, Sarah Silverman, Joe Rogan, Patton Oswalt are all white people who could get away with that joke.
I mentioned Louie CK and Doug Stanhope because they could do it the way Chris Rock did, straight up, look, this is the reality, this is the stereotype, I don't care about the stereotype.
The others would have to either throw sarcasm in there (Jon Stewart) with irony, or make a sketch of it. Sarah Silverman might be able to do it Chris Rock's way so throw her in there with Doug Stanhope and Louie CK.
There's still no doubt that Chris Rock, because he particularly focuses on racial humor, can really just get straight and to the point, there's hardly any setup. He doesn't need it because that's how he rolls.
But to say a white person couldn't make the joke is silly. Of course most couldn't do it Chris Rock's way (mainly because they lack finesse), white people can make the joke.
