In reply to the discussion: Republicans are finally having a come-to-Jesus moment... [View all]musclecar6
(1,884 posts)24. Yeah
When you back down from a bully youre fucked. What our Congress should have done, is marched into his office as soon as he got elected, with a bipartisan group of leaders and said look asshole we run things around here not you. If you operate like all the past presidents in a civilized responsible way fully understanding youre going to do what you can for your party thats fine. But if you get any bright ideas that youre going to make yourself a modern day totalitarian megalomaniac dictator were gonna be back and impeach you and convict you and throw your ass out in no uncertain terms.
Since our spineless Congress didnt do the sensible thing, he did what he always does. He started with his bull in the China shop loose cannon stampede with an Im gonna do whatever the fuck I want attitude and we were off and running. And our fearful lack of courage Congress couldnt back up fast enough to allow him to do whatever the fuck he wants. Yes the Democrats fought him every step of the way, but without the help of the Republicans he managed to stay in office all the way through even after he mounted an insurrection on January 6. How fucking disgraceful is that then our Congress completely let us down when we were attacked by an outrageous amoral despicable person, from within.
The worst part is, this incompetent smug menace, is still being defended by our cowardly Republican leadership. THEY are the ones who should be held accountable at the ballot box coming up at the mid terms and any other future elections. They need to nominate and attempt to elect ( and we of course try to defeat) the Liz Cheneys of their party. We need people in the Republican Party that even though we disagree with them on many if not most issues, that will have the integrity, decency and stability to operate in a safe sane way steering our country through all the obstacles that come up, if they win an election and we dont.

How Liz Cheney does today in her primary should give us an idea of where they are at.

The Republicans will excuse Trump because it is forgivable, he was only trying to make more money.

The republican 'come-to-Jesus moment' is to convert Jesus to their newer version of Christianity.
