At this stage, his supporters know full well that their guy is a criminal, a nihilist, and a sexual predator. They don't care. He's done everything he set out to do: he's given his evangelical supporters the overturning of Roe vs Wade. He's given tax breaks to corporations, has demonized the liberals, has rolled back decades of civil rights legislation, has gutted environmental restrictions, has defanged the IRS, has destroyed public education, and on and on. From the conservative perspective, his administration was one of the most successful in history.

This is the thing most liberals don't understand: conservatives don't want good government. They see the rule of law as either standing in the way of what they want to do (make money) or of giving privileges to those who they feel don't deserve them. Their vision of the future is anarchic, in which they are safe and secure in their enclaves while the rabble scramble around like the vermin that they are.

Conservatives aren't systemic thinkers. They are closest in mindset to 18th Century European Aristocrats who believed in their own nobility, and saw everyone who threatened that position as the enemy. They view Democracy as a mistake, or believe that their own opportunities would be better under strong hierarchical leadership. History proves them wrong, time and again, but that doesn't change their thinking.

This is why trying to get the MAGAts to see the light will continue to prove disappointing. They see TFG for what he is, and they are perfectly happy with what they see.
