voter ID in Texas requires an "appointment" which was two months out. On the date, teen went with parents to get ID (a 50 mile round trip) but all their "proof" documents (utility bill, tax bill etc) were in her parents name. She showed her current school ID, and birth certificate showing that these, were indeed her parents etc. But the proof was not good enough and she was sent home to make another appointment and bring in more documents. Yes, the appointment was another two months out. Another 50 mile trip.

Yet, some will say that voter ID is no big deal.
