41. Back in the day

In the 1950's when I grew up in Southern California, a large share of my neighbors were not "natives", having migrated to the state from other places in the country. All regions were well-represented, including the east coast. And one family that included a childhood friend had moved there from Philadelphia. I don't recall any "backlash" at the time against those that chose to move there. After all, California was perceived as a land of opportunity. Times have certainly changed.
