it's not that unusual in cases where a search warrant may sweep up documents protected by attorney client privilege (such as a search of the office of an attorney, like Cohen).
Not sure if it has ever been used in a case where the review is aimed at whether the documents enjoy executive privilege (and documents implicating national security almost certainly do not enjoy that protection).
