Arrange for him to turn himself in on Friday and then oops, the judge left for the weekend, you're going to have to sit in a cell until Monday morning when you can be arraigned and bail can be arranged.

Instead, he'll show up today, get fingerprinted, walk into court, and walk out a couple hours later with some court date several months in the future.
