Nice Florida voting story [View all]
My grandpa is 91 years old and walks pretty slowly. He uses a cane but he doesn't like it. He does like it better than falling down but not by much.
So he's in line to early vote this week and and I guess someone inside the polling place saw him out there and and came and asked him to follow them inside. He said "No no, I don't want to jump the line...I'll wait like everybody else..." and the poll worker said "Oh, you won't be jumping, just please follow me inside" and he agreed and they went inside and got him a seat and the poll worker asked him "You remember who you were standing next to in line right? " He said yes and they said "OK, just watch for them and when they get here get back in line".
And about and hour later they came through and he got in line and voted for Obama.
He did say just to spice it up a little he presented them his retired military ID instead of his driver's license (He hates voter ID laws as much as his cane). He has a DL but it irritates him that they ask for ID so he gave them that. They did have find out if it was acceptable. (It was).
My Grandpa has always been one of my personal heroes. And I don't know who that poll worker was that helped a little old man rest while waiting vote but you are tops in my book.
