(81,403 posts)Many high ranking military officers have spent their entire adult lives in the military community.
Not the civilian one.
They see the civilian leaders come and go.
Military stays the same despite who the civilian leader happens to be.
You understand the military culture and connections.
Yes I know the Russian generals are corrupt, not professional and do not really care about their troops.
But the military is all they have ever known.
Will they sit by and watch Putin destroy the Russian military to the last 18 year old private?
Some of the generals have seen most of their battalions wiped out completely.
The men left won't fight. Even with a gun to their head.
The generals have watched as one general after another has been killed.
Watching Putin lambast and scapegoat them as well.
They have families, girlfriends, colleagues. Are they going to watch all of them face destruction?
And they know that Putin will blame all his generals for the loss of the war.
They will be killed, imprisoned or exiled.
The generals uniting in support of Putin is not certain at all.
Not by a long shot.
