I've been substitute teaching for 4 years.
When 12-18 year Olds find out I was a musician, the rockers want to talk music. As I'm an old guy, classic rock comes up.
Not once in 4 years has The Clash come up. Of course, Beatles, Stones, Who, et al come up.
So does Bowie, Clapton, Zeppelin, Nirvana, and others come up.
I see rock tee-shirts all the time. I see AC/DC shirts regularly.
At my age, these kids are 2 generations my junior, but not once have they come up.
I think you're letting your personal fandom (completely justified) distort their importance.
