10. Text banking is a lot of fun

You can reach hundreds and even thousands of voters (usually ones who have voted Democratic in the past) in a shift.

And they train you on the program used for text banking (usually a program called Spoke).

They also have a Slack channel, where you can ask questions when you have an issue with something the potential voter wants to know.

There's a little bit of a learning curve at first, but once you've done it, you'll find it easy.

You would be assigned a few hundred names, and click on the enter button to send out the original message.

When you are finished, you wait for the responses.

The campaigns will provide you with standard replies for all sorts of voter responses.

For example, if it's near Election Day, the original message might ask if the person has voted yet.

How did they vote? Early, by mail, etc. You will get a list of replies to text back.

Most people never respond, but those that do are generally very polite, even the MAGAts.

When I was texting California voters last fall during the Gavin Newsom recall attempt, many of them thanked me for reminding them because they had forgotten all about it!
